Course Overview

This two day course is designed for technical professionals and field operators interested in the unique challenges associated with CBM and Gas Shale production. The course begins with a discussion of CBM, its economic impact, unique reservoir characteristics, and the necessary
facilities planning that is required over the life of the field. Gas Shale is compared to CBM and
conventional gas production to introduce participants to its unique performance issues. The
remainder of the course covers the issues that arise from the requirements to operate
unconventional gas wells at historically low pressures, including the increased importance of evaporation/condensation at low pressures, gas well deliquification, gas compression, wellsite facilities, gas gathering issues, and produced water.
1.6 CEU (Continuing Education Units) or 16 PDH (Professional Development Hours)

| | David Simpson | | David Simpson has 29 years of Petroleum Industry experience and is currently the
Principal Engineer of MuleShoe Engineering. A Professional Engineer a Master’s degree, David has had numerous articles published in professional journals, has contributed a chapter on CBM to the 2nd edition of Gas Well Deliquification, by Dr. James Lea, et al, and has spoken at various conferences, including the 2003 SPE Annual Technical Conference and Exposition in Denver. He has been a featured speaker at the bi-annual Four Corners Oil & Gas Conference for the last 6 years and is a regular instructor at short courses at the annual ALRDC Gas Well Deliquification Workshop in Denver. David was Program Chair for the highly successful SPE Advanced Technology Workshop titled “Managing the Performance of Low
Pressure Gas Wells and Associated Facilities” held in Ft Worth, TX in October, 2008. |
